The fantastic “Ethno-Metallers” BREED77 are back. Eight years after their last album “The Evil Inside”.

The idea of recording a Lockdown acoustic track has turned into an official reunion.

Since 1996 BREED77 combine metal and modern rock with flamenco and oriental sounds. Inspired by the sounds of their homeland (Spain and Gibraltar) they created the unique BREED77 “Ethno-Metal” sound and brought it to London in the late 90’s. In 1998 Kerrang! readers voted Breed 77 ‘Best Unsigned Band’. In 1999 they won the Metal Hammer and Kerrang! Awards as best new band.

With their six official studio albums they thrilled fans and press, played worldwide tours, had a hit single in the UK (#39) with “The River”, charted with four more singles and four albums, played the biggest festivals in the world (from Download to Rock Am Ring to Wacken etc pp), they worked with producers like Ron St. Germain (Tool, Soundgarden, Bad Brains), Andy Sneap and Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest/Black Sabbath/Thin Lizzy) and enriched the scene of modern rock music.

The German trade press knew only superlatives for the band at that time. Here are a few excerpts: “B77 belong to the few exotics and innovators of today’s scene. Music for metalheads who want to breathe a breath of exoticism for a change. A ride through modern rock landscapes worth exploring. Gripping, independent, exotic and innovative metal/rock that doesn’t want to fit into any pigeonhole. Southern temperament and big city hardness meet to dance on the metal parquet. Versatility, virtuosity and full power. Always intense, always unique. Explosive mixture of oppressive rock and feel-good melodies. They stand out from the genre like a lighthouse on the beach.”

Statement of the band about the reunion:

Hello friends, brothers and sisters of the internet, it has not been easy maintaining the radio silence these past days – we were going to post a lockdown video we’d got together (virtually) for, but this announcement has turned into something else, we have decided to get the band back together!!

We have realised how much we miss making music together and we feel this is the right time to wake the beast from its slumber…

The world has changed immeasurably since we were last active so we have a lot of work ahead of us – this ugly pandemic has ensured that the next year will mostly be concert-free – this will give us time to start creating again, we will have new music coming for sure but we will also start creating all sorts of content for this new world – hopefully connecting us even more to you guys out there, who we do all this for….

Now we leave you with this very special acoustic version of A Matter Of Time from Cultura recorded live during lockdown with thousands of miles between us.

Start the buzz going, wake up the dorment B77 fans, share, share, share…and tell all your friends….WE’RE BACK!!
